Andy J wins the 2026 Masters

On a tricky and deceptively tight course that needed lots of TLC in places (although the greens were excellent), Andy J triumphed. You can tell how hard it was by the scores. Andy J was the only player to shoot his handicap. In fact, apart from Andy, it was only Bern who managed a stableford score in the 30’s – with Bern doing this across both days.

Picture this – 18th tee on the last day. Very long Par 3 uphill over a lake. Bern at this pojnt was 1 point behind Andy. Andy teed off first, slicing into a hedge. Lost ball and a drop. Bern then ‘power fades’ his tee shot into a big tree just over the lake – finds it but a rubbish lie. Both then proceed to hack a couple more shots onto the green and Bern needs to hole a longish putt to put pressure on Andy. Bern misses, taps in. Andy has 1 putt to win outright and 2 putts to draw. He misses, just, with his first, then taps in. We know it’s a draw in points but who has won one countback? 

A quick tot up, a double and triple-check and Andy J clinches it.  Very well played Andy. Bad luck to Bern, but a fantastic effort.
