Rules to be applied when scores are tied after an event.
In all 18 hole events.
Extra holes should be played until a result [this is not applicable on normal society days].
If this is not possible, the following rules should be applied in this order:
  1. The winner is the player with the best total score over the last 9 holes.
  2. If this does not produce a winner, the scores over the last 6 holes are used.
  3. If this does not produce a winner, the scores over the last 3 holes are used.
  4. If this does not produce a winner, the score on the final hole should be used.
In multi-round events (i.e. The Players and The Masters).
Extra holes should be played until a result.
If this is not possible, the winner is the player with the best total score over the last 18 holes. If this does not produce a winner, then the countback method for 18 hole events (as described above) will be applied.
In all events, if there is still no result after the above applicable rules have been applied, the following rules will be used in this order:
  1. Best Stableford score on the single most difficult hole of the course. This will be the hole designated as stroke index ‘1’.
  2. Best Stableford score across the three (3) most difficult holes of the course (i.e. stroke indexes ‘1’ to ‘3’).
  3. Best Stableford score across the six (6) most difficult holes of the course (i.e. stroke indexes ‘1’ to ‘6’).
  4. Best Stableford score across the nine (9) most difficult holes of the course (i.e. stroke indexes ‘1’ to ‘9’).
If there is still no outright winner the honour will be shared.
Important
In a Stableford competition (i.e. all our events except The Players), the point scores for each hole are used and totalled.
In a handicapped Strokeplay competition (i.e. The Players), handicaps should be deducted in proportion to the number of holes being used for countback purposes.
Countback over 18 holes – apply full handicap.
Countback over 9 holes – apply half handicap.
Countback over 6 holes – apply a third of handicap.
Countback over 3 holes – apply a sixth of handicap.
Order of Merit final placings
At the end of the season, in the event that the top two scores are tied, the highest individual score from the season shall determine the winner of the Order of Merit. If the highest individual scores are the same, then the next highest shall determine the spot… etc
In the event that the 8th placed player’s score is tied with other players in 9th place and below, then the highest individual score from the season shall determine the 8th spot. If the highest individual scores are the same, then the next highest shall determine the spot, etc
Note: The top 8 placings in the Order of Merit will qualify by right for the end of season ‘Masters’ event. However, if a qualifier cannot play in the Masters for any reason, the 9th player in the Order of Merit table will be offered the place, and so on, until 8 places are filled.
